Cloud 9 by Caryl Churchill

A gender-bending, wickedly funny and subversive satire, Cloud 9 challenges society’s conventions concerning sex, race, class and personal identity. Act one is set in 1880 Africa with the philandering Clive, his lovely and unhappy wife Betty, their precocious children and restless servants. Act two takes place one hundred years later in London, with the same characters transformed. Churchill skewers the hypocrisy and human cost of imperialism as it spans continents and generations.
